Padula Charterhouse

The Padula Charterhouse, in Italian Certosa di Padula, dedicated to San Lorenzo, is a Carthusian Monastry

It is the second largest Charterhouse in Italy after the one in Pavia. This beautiful example of sacred architecture includes, among other highlights, a 12.000 square meters cloister, one of the most spacious in Europe, a famous spiral staircase of white marble, countless rooms decorated by precious frescoes and a gigantic kitchen. It is located at the Eastern side of the Unesco World Heritage site named Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park with the Archeological Sites of Paestum and Velia, and the Certosa di Padula.
