Teggiano<\/strong>\u00a0is one of the many historical towns within the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park<\/a><\/strong>, probably the richest in terms of history and art.\u00a0Teggiano can be reached from our farmhouse by car in about one hour<\/a> <\/strong>on the highway A3.<\/p>\n

Farmhouse near Teggiano<\/h2>\n

The foundation of this town goes back to Greeks and to the pre-roman Italic populations of the area. Teggiano has been a major centre of local political power in the Roman times, in the Middle Ages and during the Renaissance. Its historical centre, in the middle of the Vallo di Diano area is beautifully preserved. As being far away from the seaside, Teggiano represents a typical example of the treasures of southern Italy that remained completely unknown to mass tourism.<\/p>\n

Teggiano is highly recommended for a half-day tour for those who have an accommodation in the rooms or apartments of La Morella farm stay. A walk in the town centre will allow you to appreciate the architecture, mostly untouched from the Middle Ages, the lifestyle and the beautiful view over the Vallo di Diano valley. The most famous monuments town include the Cathedral of Santa Maria Maggiore, the Church of St. Michael (Chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo), and the Chiesa della Santissima Piet\u00e0. We suggest to join the visit to Teggiano to a visit to the Certosa di Padula<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0or to the Pertosa caves <\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Another beautiful alternative, after a half day in Teggiano, is to choose a different retour route than the highway, crossing the Cilento national park. Different alternative routes are possible on the way back. The most interesting is probably the Strada Provinciale 13b (SP13b) crossing the towns names Sacco (with a deviation to the \u201cghost town\u201d Roscigno Vecchia<\/a><\/strong>), Piaggine, Laurino.<\/p>\n
