Ravello

Ravello

Ravello allows the visitor to enjoy a beautiful view over the entire Salerno gulf

Ravello is the only one, among the Amalfi coast destinations that are proposed in these pages, which is not at the seaside. Ravello was an important centre at the time of the Amalfi Republic and the Salerno Duchy, and the residence of many major aristocratic families of the area.

Starting from our farmhouse, using a car is recommended. Two alternative routes both requiring about 1h15 min, can be chosen. One crosses Amalfi, while the other follows the highway A3 in direction Naples until Angri and crosses then southwards the mountain area above the Amalfi coast

Located at about 300 m above seal level, Ravello allows the visitor to enjoy a beautiful view over the entire Salerno gulf. The town reached its greatest splendour in the middle-age, at the time of the Amalfi Maritime Republic, and was rediscovered in XIX century as a site of high-class tourism, hosting a number of major cultural events. Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone, with their beautiful gardens, are jewels from this glorious past open today to visitors.

We selected for our guests this website to find some pictures and information before visiting Ravello.
